New Orleans is known for world-class food and music. World-class parties. World-class hangovers.
But karting? That’s unlikely to come up no matter how many people you ask.

The truth is, New Orleans is a world-class karting destination. The kart track at NOLA Motorsports is the biggest in North America. The head honcho out there? IndyCar driver Jay Howard.

If you’re used to the normal karts at our track, the GT Max is a horse of a different color.

With its liquid-cooled 2-stroke engine, high energy absorption system Head System, hydraulic brakes with self-adjusting brake pads and ventilated disk – this machine moves, and stops, like nothing you’re used to.

David Aldana is one fast man. 

Dirt track, road racing, AMA Grand National Championships, Trans-AMA motocross series, spreedway racing – David has done it all and has the medals to prove it. His racing style – known as being an all-or-nothing racer – made him a focal point of the Academy Award-nominated film On Any Sunday and got hin inducted into the Motorcycle Hall of Fame. And come this weekend, he will be the Grand Marshall of the NOLA Vintage Grand Prix as well as a praticipant in a few races.

The 3 days of vintage motorcycle racing, music, swap meets, and much more probably wouldn't have come together without the work of passionate people like Clint Austin. 

When the first pack of wild-eyed vintage motorcycle racers slides into turn 1 of NOLA Motorsports Park’s new flat track – either with just back breaks or none at all – there will be one man watching closer than the rest.

Rob Mclendon, or Robbie-Bobbie Mclendonshire as some call him (more on that later), is a man known across the Gulf South for his role in keeping motorcycle racing culture alive and well. After all, he’s been at it since he was a kid, making a hard leap from motocross to flat track racing when he was 14 by just showing up for a race one day.

When asked how that went, Rob took a deep breath and said, “Well, I sucked… horribly. I wrecked a few times and wasn’t sure if this was all that much fun. But I just went out on a race day thinking that because I was fast in other races, I’d be fast here. There’s just so much more technique. Long story short, I kept practicing and got better. In 2002, I got my first pro license.”
