Track Update: June 2, 2010
As construction continues on schedule we have many big announcements to discuss this week.
Our goal is simple, become a world class facility holding nothing back in performance, experience or safety. We have assembled a like-minded team of professionals pushing the boundaries of what a cutting edge facility should be, creating new methods and technology along the way.
We are dedicated to making this experience available to everyone.
It is simply not enough to squeak out a track surface and basic amenities that can be found at every other track (that likely is not close driving distance to anywhere fun). What we have learned is many venues do not push the envelope. Many do not know to ask the right questions, they are just happy to get cars on a curvy road. After all this is just building a road and Louisiana has the perfect road mastered???

Our first announcement… asphalt is being laid this week.
In NOLA Motorsports fashion we have done our homework. Louisiana roads are the worst. We are not building a road. We are certainly not building a Louisiana road. All that thinking goes out the window. We started with a good foundation that has been shown on the website in brief glimpses.
On that foundation we are laying a special aggregate mix design using PG 76-22M, the highest performance asphalt polymer available in the world. The asphalt will be on all track surfaces at NMS — large tracks and kart tracks.
Having a great polymer asphalt mix is just part of the puzzle. The method of laying the asphalt and the machinery is vitally important to the smoothness and longevity of the surface. Our asphalt will be laid with a MTV, Material Transfer Vehicle, sometimes called a “shuttle buggy”. The shuttle buggy allows asphalt to be continuously laid rather than the conventional method of downtime while switching trucks. Read more detailed information on this machinery and process.
These methods are a high level view of what is being done on the surface on both our road course as well as the international level karting facility. See our third announcement for a contest involving the pavement.

Our second announcement… karting facility rendering, the first of many NMS renderings.
Karting has been a first class citizen of NOLA Motorsports from our first track designs. Karting is a very family-centric sport, a very inexpensive form of driving and racing experience. We posted a great article on the blog recently that showed the background of the 33 starters from this past weekend’s Indy 500 race. Nearly the entire field came from kart racing.
These are not the go karts you rode in grandma’s yard.
We have designed a facility to support a growing kart population. As we expose karting to a new market around us we must be able to handle all aspects of kart rentals, racing, sales and service. We have chosen to show our karting facility as the first in a line of rendering releases that will be published over the next several weeks showing the architecture of NOLA Motorsports Park. The time for karting in our region is now.

Our third announcement… free passes!
We are all looking forward to driving at the track. To scratch that itch we will hold a friendly competition with a carefully chosen collection of performance vehicles. The contest is simple, the prizes are free trackday passes or kart rentals. To win all you must do is guess the top MPH on any of the fleet of vehicles in a short 800ft pad where acceleration and braking must be done.
Take note of the recent additions to the field – we now have two karts and a bike in the running.
