Hi Folks, curiosity is killing me - I'd like to know as well as being a benefit to the moderators and organizers. With the development of a karting track in LA, it would be nice to get a general roll call. Who plans to participate and be part of the karting line-up? Who is in the LA area and what are you running?

Troy Smith - Monza/Stock Moto
Virginia Smith - Arrow/TAG Leopard

TROY,

My name is Stephen Lamana and I live in Metairie. I have been in karting for over 11 years and currently participate in the 125cc shifter class . Having essentially grown up in karting, I can tell you that there are at least 15 active karters in the south Louisiana area, with at least another 5-6 who are not active karters, but have the equipment to be.

Great to hear from you all - aside from myself, I know of three other shifters, 4 briggs and a couple TAGs from the Lafayette area. Working on getting those folks included in this forum as well. And of course, trying to talk all my "fellow" workers into the pursuit of karts - heck, i figure if I can talk my wife into one - everyone else should be easy!

How much does one of those carts run for? Or if someone wanted to get into it?

New rolling Chassis with body and seat start around $2300.00 Complete turn key start around $3200.00 a new turn key shifter Kart run over $10,000.00. Like all motorsports the price of the equipment is directly related to how fast it goes. Good used equipment can be found for $1800.00 and up depending on the class, year and condition.

Hello all, my name is John Gould. I live in Denham Springs and plan to race as much as my work schedule will allow. I have a Intrepid Sirrius with the Rotax and plan to run in the Masters class. Also I plan on buying another kart for my daughter to race. Just not sure yet what class will be best for her.

Hi John,

How old is your daughter? For new racers I recommend the 4 Cycle or Sportsman classes. The cost of the equipment is less, the ratio of driving to working on the kart is greater and allow time to understand chassis tuning and to learn racecraft.

Hey everyone, I have a kart as well. CRG shifter with a Vortex RVS ICC motor. Just can not wait for the track to open up. My son also runs a Junior Sportsman kart powered by a Briggs World formula. Live in Mississippi and this will be my shortest drive to any place I run at.
Going to TGPR next weekend for a lapping day. 5.5 hours one way!!!!!!!!

I've got one of the Clones and race it at Moore Park. I think I can convert it to a F200. I've read the engine rules. Are there any Chassis rules? What about items like fuel and clutch?

I'm new to karting and need to read up on Tech and Safety equipment rules as well. Anybody have a link for NOLA's rules?

Welcome to the fun world of F200, Chassis and engine rules can be found www.speedway-karting.com. Fuel will be pump gas from the pumps at NOLA F200's run well on 87 or 91. Clutch is open I have had the best service from Tomar Steller 3 3 disc, Tires are Burris B55, Your Helmet will need to M or SA 2005 or newer. Garett will have the rules posted this week.

Thanks Mitch!

When I go to speedway-karting.com>F200> On the left menu F200 FAQs and F200 Rules the links are broken.

Any other options?

Hey Bob! Scott Foremaster here. Long time, no see. Did you sell the RX-7? How long you been runnin' karts? I must say, I have been missing being on the track and karts or a dedicated track bike is sounding good...

Hi Scott! I've still got the Mazda Goat but have increasingly become addicted to kart racing. Paul and I started last summer and have been really enjoying it! Hope to see you at NOLA when it opens!
