What is the spec fuel for the KT-100 at NOLA MSP? If there is no spec, what is the lowest octane, generally speaking, that can be safely run in a sprint environment?
Thanks in advance.

Please refer to the rule book for fuel specs at http://www.nolamotor.com/download/latest-kart-rules.pdf however our fuel station will not be in place for the first race. We will be running an open fuel policy for race 1. Garett's recommended octane is no lower than 93 for a kt-100.

Ive been running 87 because I thought that was the spec fuel. Thats most likely why them kart runs liks crap.

Have you been having detonation or pre-ignition issues? How does the piston look?

Sorry guys my mistake in the rule book. When I started the book SS was only F200 we need to fix it. KT-100 will not run on 87, run pump 93 for now and I will update before race 2.
Sorry
PS If you guys run across anything that looks a little strange in the book let me know. (This does not mean the whole book!!!)

While it has been probably 8-10 years since I raced a KT100, we always ran the highest octane available. Most often it was 110 although we did run 98 and 93....if I recall, leaded fuel is better. Run 87 and detonation is almost certain.
BTW Andy, Johnny Truax ran at NOLA and didn't stick his, and in many many hours of running I never stuck one either. My shifter motors on the other hand....
Garett, you should let the KT100s run 110 so they have a sporting chance against those 4-cycles with 2 more horsepower then them. ;)

For a KT 100 best to get close to 100 octane. Our best performance was with VP MOTORSPORT 98L, When we ran WKA their spec fuel was sunoco 110. either way run 8 oz of quality oil and you are good. I'd be careful with today's "pump gas" and it's added ethanol, it will destroy a Walbro carb among cause other probs. What some guys are doing is buying their fuel at a marina where they offer 93 octane with zero ethanol, You may get away with this if your cc's are not too low.

I'm guessing that I'd want to run leaded fuel for the extra lubrication, right? What are going to be the eventual choices at NOLA? I'd like to start running the correct fuel from the jump.

This is what I have been running. 100 octane no ethanol from local motor sports company.
