NOLA Motorsports Park will be hosting our first Oval test and tune to introduce our 1/8 40' wide Tri Oval to the dirt oval community December 10th.
Those with sprint karts that would like to give the oval a try come on down. A sprint cart can Sprint chassis can be fast on a oval. It will be a great introduction for those interested in competing for the NOLA Grand Championship which includes 10 sprint races and 3 oval races for the crown in each class.

This first oval T&T day will be FREE of charge, come and give it a try and find out how tough running an oval can be.

Thanks, It has been on Bob's for a week or 2, track chat, Tracks, Southeast and Pavement oval section. We will keep bumping it up as we get closer. We pushed the date into Dec as the oval guys are finishing up there indoor season with Batesville Ms being the last event for a number of guys before the holidays.

Mitch, I'll get Robert Montgomery to post it at Acadiana Speedway.

So will the NOLA Grand championship require someone to have an oval cart in addition to a sprint cart to be competitive for the championship? It sounds like you're saying the sprint carts can run the oval races, but would they really have a chance against an oval cart? Will there be a points championship for just the sprint race racers?

Regarding the Dec 10 TNT, will a sprint course be set up in addition to the oval?

Yea, what he said - that is a good question. I am assuming the "NOLA Grand Champion" is a title that can be pursued by all classes? Much like an Indy title or so which is totaled throughout the year based on both road and oval courses? If this is the case, I would think a sprint kart would undoubtedly have the advantage as an oval kart would not fair well on a sprint track - but who knows? It would be fun to try and set a sprinter (shifter) up for an oval - if you could get it just right and do the whole race in 3rd, or 4th - might be fast?

Hey guy! I've been working with Mitch and Garett on this TNT for a month or so now. We've got a few threads on Bob's 4cycle now and I have posted a little on the FB sites for Acadiana Speedway and Gulfport Motorsports Park. I plan to begin pushing harder this week to get the word out about this date. However, any help is appreciated.

With regard to a straight rail chassis on the oval... I think it'd be a little more competitve than an offset chassis on a road course. Either way, I'm looking forward to seeing another karting disipline added to the already impressive NOLA line-up.

No, to compete for the Grand Championship drivers will use the same kart they are running on sprint track.

We have not talked about running both on the same day but will look into it.

The sprint chassis will work just fine on the oval although the set up will obviously be different. We own a paved high banked oval in Vincennes, IN and have ran "open" races where people have brought in TAG's with sprint chassis and once they adapted to the track they ran surprisingly well and in fact a sprint chassis with a modified Sudam (about 35 hp) won the class. Oval karts came into play years ago when sprint karts were narrower but IMO they aren't really an advantage over a sprint like they used to be. Right now we are running an Invader Sprint on dirt and it handles great and i don't feel we are leaving anything on the table.

Hey Mitch, how about a rental kart (Arrive and drive) oval race too?

I will talk to Garett. We did do a arrive and drive oval series as part of our Oval championship that worked well at the venue out west.

Dang Mitch,

We are NOT going to make it. We have a graduation for my niece that same day at 10 am! We will try but don't count on it! :(
