Wow. How sweet this is!

A lot of us gave-up local motorcycle track days (for reasons that I won't go into) quite awhile back. With the closest tracks being in Texas and Alabama, track days and racing - at least for me - have been pretty infrequent.

It's been really tough not turning laps on a regular basis like I'd become accustomed to. I also miss the comraderie. I'm sure the same goes for my son and a few of my buddies. The idea of a world class facility in my back yard has made the time much easier to bear!

A personal and sincere thank you for everyone involved in bringing this facility to reality!

Very nice...., Wes, does the CAT asphalt laying machinery have an additional implement that attaches to the "normal" width gate in series or is this machine specifically configured for track width laying...?

City streets, etc. are not normally laid in 20' widths so I was just wondering.

The differences are very interesting since I just watched as a couple of different companies (bid law) repaved every road within our City limits.

Quality level is noticeable even between two streets next to each other when worked by different companies with better, more modern equipment, especially when some streets with historic problems are treated with soil cement preparation as opposed to not.

It's been a long wait, probably no more-so than for y'all, being closely involved in the tedious process of pre-paving preparation....and I'm sure many people keeping track of the process are thinking "just pave the darned thing already" but knowing what I have learned about the attention to detail necessary just to complete surfaces to withstand normal road traffic with a maximum life expectancy of 10 years, for sure, every step y'all have taken was the right call.

Our asphalt engineer Brian Prowell has this to say:
The machine extends to that width. Barriere installed auger extensions and auger tunnel extensions to move the mix to the outside without segregation. This helps maintain uniform texture.

Roger that...., I could see the distribution auger in one of the pics.

Huge step in the process....worth celebrating.

Gonna really look great when the curbing starts going in.

Are y'all doing FIA spec curb or something else...?

TIA,

LMAO at Dave427...GIGGITY...I think we're all there...I can't wait and at this point all I have to bring to the track is a 4000lb family sedan...with an auto...and coilovers and about 425hp
BTW Dave- do you have something with a 427ci engine?

Turbo,
Yes the curbing we will be using is FIA and FIM spec.

It sounds silly, but the idea of running over some legit racing curbing is really exciting :D

Has there been a decision on the curb color scheme? :)

You should be more concerned with the safety barriers...

My streak is still alive Andy.

Have never spun a car on track.

Have never put more than 2 wheels off a racing surface.

Have never been cited for a racing infraction.

Red and White curb paint for us. We considered some "fun" colors but it is very difficult to beat black pavement, green grass and red/white curbing.
